We already have growth of some of our plants! I didn't think they were even growing yet I swear I just checked them a few days ago. But, today Dustin told me he needed to hurry up and get the garden tilled so he could plant them.. When I went to see just how big they were I was shocked!
So now we start the transition from the darkroom to the light room (AKA outside :o)

And today we began to till, well he did!
Today was an awesome day for getting the yard ready for what will hopefully be a very productive year for our garden(S). Yep gardens! We have decided to split up our seeds into 3 separate gardens
1. My Autumn garden
Let me add that along with the not planting sooner fail. We also failed at removing the grass properly and unless you knew better you wouldn't know there was ever a garden in our back yard! The grass grew back like it had never been tilled, dug up or planted in!
In addition to the getting the garden started we also purchased a couple more compost bins. Our original one purchased last year got chewed on and dug at by a dog and we thought it was toast since the side was half hanging off. Turns out it just needed to be snapped back together and positioned somewhere more sturdy! So instead of 2 we have 3 compost bins. Which is fine by us! We can never have enough compost for all the planting & growing we are hoping to do over the next several years!
So all in all it was a really good day and we got a good head start into the planting season (We hope!)
Speaking of that apple tree! I am happy to say. One thing we planted last year survived the cold, the wind storms & our apparent lack of green thumbs!! We have new buds growing on our tree!
So, I think if things can continue the way they have been going this week, we have a pretty good chance of something else surviving this growing season! We shall see!

The seeds have been planted!
We got our first try at the seedling starter kits and it was pretty easy and fun! Dan even planted a few pumpkins after he wondered into the kitchen to see what we were up to!
All in all it was quick easy and fun! I'm glad we didn't do the other route which was to purchase separate dirt pots and plastic holder! This way was also A LOT cheaper!

We bought our seeds!!
We decided this year to start our seeds early and indoors since last year our pumpkins & corn failed miserably. Last year it wasn't until it was too late that we found out (and quite rudely I might add by more experienced gardeners) that we shouldn't have used the directions on the back of the package! Who knew? Not us we are brand new to growing our own food! We of course did not let that stop us from not only trying again but, going bigger and more. We picked some of our favorites and added a few.. You never know what will happen unless you try and so here is our assortment of seeds for this year!
We also decided our youngest could learn a lot from growing a few things in his own little personal garden!
He will be planting some of the seeds from above in his garden as well as these three!
I can not wait for everything to start growing!
